Welcome to the Counselor's Corner!
About Me -
I am a graduate of the University of Memphis. I have an Educational Specialist degree in School Counseling, a Master's degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Louisiana Tech University and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Louisiana State University of Shreveport. I am a member of the Mississippi Counseling Association, Mississippi School Counselors Association, and the Northwest Mississippi Counseling Association.
I have been married to my wonderful husband Randy, for 28 years and we have two equally awesome children; my son Taylor, who graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in Communications with an emphasis in Film, and my daughter Tori, who is currently a Senior at Rhodes College. In my free time, I enjoy reading, volunteering, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
Our program here at Overpark Elementary is designed to offer students the skills necessary to promote social and emotional wellness. The elementary years are a time when students begin to develop their academic self-concept as well as their feelings of confidence and competence as learners. They are beginning to develop decision-making, communication and life skills, as well as character values. It is also a time when students develop and acquire attitudes toward school, self, peers, social groups and families.
It is our hope that student's excel in the areas of academics, leadership, citizenship, self-concept, and social awareness. Together we (administrators, faculty/staff, and parents) can provide a respectful and encouraging environment that helps our students meet present and future challenges in an ever changing global society.
Please take advantage of the resources the counseling office has to offer. I look forward to working with you and helping in any way that I can. If you have questions please do not hesitate to contact me.
