Subjects Taught

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from The University of Mississippi.  I also have a specialty certificate in Gifted Education.

Go Rebels!

I began my career teaching third grade at Oakhaven Elementary in Memphis,TN.  I was there for 6 years and then began teaching in Desoto County in 2007.  I taught third grade for my first 5 years at Overpark and I am thrilled to begin my sixth year teaching 2nd-5th grade Spotlight this school year.

Go Mustangs!

Meet the Teacher

My name is Kelley Cook and I am so excited to be teaching Spotlight this year.  I have proudly called Overpark Elementary my home for the past ten years. Go Mustangs!  When I am not with my school family, I have two beautiful children to keep me entertained.  Taylor is in fifth grade at Overpark this year and his budding sports "career" keeps me very busy.  My daughter, Natalie, is in second grade and loving every minute of it!

I am originally from West Point, MS.  I spent my college years in Oxford, MS, and moved to Memphis after graduation.  My husband, Stan, and I got married 14 years ago and have lived in Desoto County ever since. Becoming a teacher and a mom was my childhood dream and I know I am blessed to be living my dream!

When time allows, I love to shop, go to the movies, travel, run, and read magazines.  As an associate member of the Jr. Auxiliary of Desoto County, I also enjoy volunteering in our community.  Attending Ole Miss was an amazing experience and I left there with a wealth of new friendships and also a couple of degrees:)  Our family continues to enjoy "Groving," and attends football & baseball games whenever we get the opportunity.

I will strive to help the OES Spotlight students develop their thinking, creativity, problem solving, leadership, communication, and research skills throughout this school year.  I hope to be a teacher that each student remembers as one that helped them set personal goals and encouraged them to achieve them.
